A Splash Page is another very good way to advertise your product and in some cases necessary to get your site in a Traffic Exchange.

A Splash Page is a very fast loading web page, custom designed to your needs. It may be of such a nature as to LOOK much different than your actual site, but also to GET ATTENTION of the viewer and intice them to click on it, at which time they are directed to your actual web site.

The purpose of a Splash Page is to get people to take the time to actually see your site. There are so many affiliate programs being promoted out there, many people will not bother to really look at the page . But by using a Splash Page which looks different, you have a much better chance of surfers actually seeing what you are offering.

What are Safelists?
Safelists are a manner of using opt-in, spam-free methods of mailing your promotions to others outside your circle of contacts. You simply sign up free, or pay for upgraded benefits–your choice–validate your mailing addresses (one for contact and the other for your subscribed mails).

What is FFA advertising?
FFA stands for “Free for All” links.
One adds his or her link(s) to FFA pages to increase link popularity and possibly get a click on his/her ad. There are also types of FFAs that are membership based. It is good for your business to join those FFAs. Some, like SkyAdBoard.com, allow you to post your ads permanently on the page you promote. All that link to that page are in essence linking to your business. Others, like FFANet.com, go the extra mile by allowing you to set up a mailing ad to go to each person that posts to your page. Free and spam-free advertising at it’s best. We keep seeing the sites that say “Build your List. It is your #1 tool.” This is true, but for the newbie, FFAs are a good way to get those ads into the mailboxes of others legally while building your personal list.
Many discourage the use of FFAs under the reasoning that they are ineffective and produce few sales/signups. In fact, the sales and signups produced from the links on an FFA page are not huge, but you have to know what to advertise there to make it work. For example, say you have been using free advertising, what form does not matter. For now we will say you are using traffic exchanges. Review the Terms of Service (TOS) for your respective exchanges. The ones that allow direct mailing to your downline members are the ones to advertise via FFA. This is just one more way that spreading out your advertising will help you build that almighty List you keep hearing about.
Your link title is important. Do not name the program, simply use phrases like, “The Best Free Advertising” or “Get Free Hits to Your Site NOW!” and link that phrase to your free advertising program. Once someone joins your program that he/she found on the FFA, you now have them as your referral that you can email directly…don’t abuse that privilege, email abuse is NOT good for your business, but that is for another chapter.
Link to as many FFAs, membership or otherwise, as you can. The more sites your site links to, the more popular your link becomes, and the more easily your site can be sought out by search engines to help bring your site to the front page of those search engine results free of charge.

E-zines are a business of their own. They are very much the same as a News Letter in that they are meant to inform. You usually request to have one sent to you, by completing a form or application. E-zines number in the thousands, and each has a topic of its own. They range from how to bake bread to making repairs on your lawn mower, care of horses to raising fish. Some are sent out weekly and others monthly.

The topics might be anything. Where you, the Advertiser comes in, is the fact it cost money to put the e-zines out to thousands of people, and so they generally have one, two and possibly three short advertisements scattered thru the e-zine.

Some publishers will allow free ads towards the end of the e-zine and most charge a fee to place your Ad in their publication. The good thing is, the people who get the e-zine sent to them have requested and sometimes paid to get it. They WILL see your Ad. And many of the people who receive the e-zines have never seen a Traffic Exchange or many of the products offered, but they are interested in the topic they have chosen.

If your Ad is accepted for publication in an e-zine, rest assured, someone feels you have something worth writing about.

Where do you find a list of e-zines? Just go to your favorite search engine and type in e-zine, free e-zine or anything to that effect, and do the search. There is a multitude of e-zine lists available to look thru.

Blogging is much less complicated than it sounds.
Blogs are very good for your business. Posting blogs is a free activity, they are offered
by Yahoo, MSN, Google, Blogger.com, MySpace…the list goes on and on.
Now that you know where to get a blog of your own, what do you do with it?

Anything you want, as long as your links are on the blog somewhere and you leave the ability for others to leave comments enabled. In fact, choosing to load your blog with other content and information will allow search engines to pick up your blog (and your business links) for other types of content that are unrelated to your business. Let’s say, for instance, that you chose to post varying content on your blog. We’ll say you have some recipes, jokes, and health articles blogged. People are running searches for millions of items and topics. The search engines lead people to your blog, based up the content of your blog matching the criteria the searcher input. That does what for your business, you ask?
Your business links and contact information are on the blog as well. I recommend putting them in your side links for browsers to browse further and see what it is you have to offer besides some recipes or jokes.

Another way to use your blog is to post updates about the business you are advertising. Keeping people informed is a great way to build a name and reputation, which is important to your business. Leaving the comment area enabled on your blog is a great way to initiate networking. Nine out of ten times when blog posters leave comments, they also leave at least one link. 7 out of those 9 times, that link your poster leaves is going to lead to their blog…their blog that you in turn leave a comment with your main business link. Bam, your link popularity just grew again…for free.

Many people subscribe to the blogs of other people, which is a useful tool in building that almighty List of contacts. If you are creative and have the time to maintain your blog with regular updates, your list of blog subscribers will grow. Provide honest, worthwhile information and offer to answer questions. Chances are there won’t be many questions if you keep it simple. This is yet one more way to build name recognition and a GOOD reputation in the marketing field.

Not a chance. Did you know that you can share OTHER people’s information on YOUR blog as long as you follow one simple rule: ALWAYS GIVE THE REAL AUTHOR THE CREDIT and a link back to where you located the author’s article never hurts.

Banners are actually images, often with writing on them, showing information about a product or web site. The Banner is then linked so when clicked on, the person is taken to a website to view. The common banner is typically 468 x 60 pixels in size and is displayed in several different ways. Usually banners are rotated on a members surf bar when they are surfing a Traffic Exchange. They are also shown in rotation on other designated pages thru out a Traffic Exchange where they will be likely to be seen. A very effective way to advertise.

Banner impressions, or the number of times a banner is shown, usually must be purchased thru the Exchange Administration or a designated purchase page. Prices vary, but are affordable to most advertisers, if you look around. Some Excellent designers only charge $10 each for a Banner while others charge up to $100 each. In this business, higher price is not necessarily better. Shop and look for designers who offer testimonials and/or allow you to contact previous customers for a recommendation.

A Banner can be designed in almost any size or shape, depending on how it is to be used. Some designers charge a flat rate for any size banner and others charge according to the size and effects of the banner.

Banners are usually either static in nature or animated. A static banner is just an image and has no movement. An animated banner is one with movement, like a bird flying or a car driving by , maybe different lights flashing, depending on what you want. But animated banners are nice in that it can be like reading a book, with different pages, or in this case, different images and text on different frames or pages if you will.

There are also Banner Exchanges in which a person places coded information on his web site and other peoples banners rotate randomly and can be seen wherever that particular web page is shown. When this is done on hundreds of different web sites, YOUR banner can receive a lot of exposure.

There are also free sites where you can make your own banner and with these free banners, there is usually some type of Advertisement on the banner for the company where it was made.

And the one thing to keep in mind is that banners, like a web page, must be hosted (stored) on an internet server some where. If you have your own web site, and not an affiliate site, then chances are you can store the banners on your own sites server at no additional cost. If you do not have access to a server to store your banner, it can not be viewed. In that case, you may want to consider paying a very small fee to someone, perhaps a banner designer, to host/store your banner for you. They will then give you some code to use when you want to place your banner in rotation some place.

You may use the same banner on unlimited different web sites or Traffic Exchanges. No need to have a separate banner for each exchange.

~ Traffic Exchange Exposure ~

Traffic Exchanges were originally designed because people had products for sale and an Exchange provided a means of showing several products to people all over the world without them having to search for something specific. Rather like shopping, if you will.

Can you imagine belonging to 15 or 20 different Traffic Exchanges trying to get your site seen by someone “new” and hope your site is interesting enough for them want to buy from you? How many hours will you have to surf to increase your viewing credits to a sizeable amount so your page will be shown enough times for the “right” person to see it and BUY? You certainly won’t have much time for anything else will you.

Well don’t be discouraged, there are buyers out there looking for exactly what you have to sell. AND there is a better way for your product to be shown. It is called Massive Advertising done thru a joint effort of many Webmasters working together to put YOUR advertisement in front of their members for you. They do the work so you don’t have to. This allows you the freedom to have a little more time for the things which are important to you.

There are literally several thousands or more Traffic Exchanges out there, all wanting your business. The things you need to be aware of to make a good decision on which ones you may try for your advertising are :

Manual Exchange One where you must click a given button every 15 to 30 seconds for a new page to be shown. Gives you the opportunity to look at what is in front of you and decide if you are interested in it or not. Slow moving but effective.

Auto Surf Exchange Like the TV commercial says, “set it and forget it “. Well it isn’t quite that simple but is a faster pace then the Manual Surf. Sites are shown every 10 to 15 seconds and usually web sites shown here need to be of a nature to capture the viewers interest right away, and they can pause the timer to more fully explore your site or program or even open the page in a new window. Also an effective method of advertising on a faster scale.

Benefits Next we need to look at the things offered to members, both as FREE members and as PAID or Upgraded members. These things you will usually find on the front page of most Traffic Exchanges. You should also look for advantages such as Banner Advertising and Text Link advertising which some Exchanges offer either free or at a reasonable price. Also, it is a good feature if you are able to know who is in your downlines AND be able to contact them. This is a great “LIST” building feature and can be very important to your future sales. More about the “LIST” in a later chapter.

Acceptable Sites Do you think your site will be getting the best Advertising if the Exchange allows a lot of Adult sites or pop-up advertising, or if they allow site rotators. Take a few minutes to look over the Terms Of Service (TOS) or rules and see if these things are for you. If not, go elsewhere. Don’t join just because it has a nice looking appearance on the cover page. Know what you want before you get started then it will be easier to find.

Administration Does the Admin make itself available to you and your needs ? Do they keep in touch with the membership on a regular basis, offer new ideas to the members, or are they pleasant to deal with, do they “care” about you as a member?

Traffic Exchanges are everywhere on the internet. Usually if you find one, there will be a dozen or more different ones advertised on it.
